Children are born with a natural aptitude for music not related to heredity. 1 Left unattended, this aptitude declines and is difficult to reverse. University research shows early music study stimulates brain development and actually forms new permanent brain connections. 2 The study showed preschool-aged-children who received piano/ keyboard training significantly outperformed others on spatial-reasoning tests.
