Noteworthy Chords My name is Christel Meyer and I offer private piano and voice lessons to those desiring to learn or expand their skills out of my New Brighton condominium. I have a degree in Music Education, with a major in voice and minor in piano. For over seven years, I have been providing private piano and voice lessons to students ranging from 5 years old to adult and look forward to teaching you.

Noteworthy Chords has two upright pianos to choose from and vaulted ceilings give an open feel to the studio which lends a comfortable atmosphere for playing and singing. It is in a secure building that has been converted from a school to condominiums. If you would like to come and visit the studio or have questions concerning the studio policy or rates, please contact me to either set up an appointment or have me answer any questions you may have.

Piano Lessons
Report
I believe that it is beneficial for students to learn how to read music. So it is important for them to have a theory book that allows them to learn rhythm, chords, names of notes, dynamics and articulation. It is also important to learn sight reading skills and ear training. The book series that I have found that does a great job of incorporating all of these skills is called Faber and Faber, Adventures in Music.
Voice Lessons
Report
At the first voice lesson we go over the basics of posture, breathing, warm-ups and checking your range. I then start a series of songs from the Adventures in Singing book. These are folk songs that gradually get tougher and each has its own elements that I like to know each of my students can handle.

I grew up as a pastor’s kid in Hector, MN. Growing up I performed in church with my family, sang in the church choir, and was involved in Choir, Band and Popsingers all the way through high school. I started taking piano lessons in 1st grade and continued until I graduated from high school in 1997. I moved to the Twin Cities and attended Northwestern College in Roseville, Minnesota. There I continued my piano lessons until achieving a piano minor. I sang in the Northwestern College Choir and with a small ministry group called Innermission. I received my degree in Music Education in 2002 with a focus in voice.
