Firefly Music School We hold lessons once a week here at the school. We offer 1/2 hour, 45 minute, or full hour lessons. Lessons are purchased and booked in one month blocks. We find a day and time that works for you and commit to it for the month. If that time and day continue to be convenient, you can use it month after month. Should you need to change days or times, we schedule this to begin at the next new month.

Our teachers provide a friendly and relaxed environment for beginners and students wanting to build on their existing skills. We hold weekly, one-on-one and small group lessons, where kids, teens, and adults learn to play, read music, and sometimes even write some of their own. Lessons are booked on a monthly basis, so students can begin, stop, and resume the program easily.

Electric And Acoustic Guitar
I’ve been teaching guitar and bass at Firefly for several years. I’m currently finishing up a Classical Guitar Performance degree at Akron University. Being a teacher at Firefly has made me realize that I am a drummer trapped in a guitar player’s body who played piano in a previous life and plays bass in an 80′s hair metal cover band in a parallel dimension

Piano
My specialty is piano and woodwind instruments, but I also am starting to learn brass instruments as well. I love teaching music so much that I have decided to make a career out of it.

Piano And Band Instruments
I began taking piano lessons at six and continued through high school where I was active in the school’s instrumental ensembles. While at Akron U, I played keyboards for a band that had recently released an album (now in the Local Artists section of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) and was opening for some well known musical acts of that time.

Drums
I teach drums/percussion at Firefly (and yes, I am a girl!). I’ve been playing drums for over 7 years. I was thrown onto my church worship band after my first year when one of our drummers stepped down and I’ve been playing there ever since.

Violin And Fiddle
I teach violin and fiddle at Firefly and love spreading the joy of music! I enjoy Scottish Fiddle, American Contra Dance, and Gypsy. I play locally with a celtic rock band called “The Mickeys” and a Scottish dance band called “Next in Line.”

Piano, Guitar, And Bagpipes
Although I’ve only been at Firefly since September of 2010, I have enjoyed teaching and playing music for most of my life. When I was 8, I picked up the challenge of learning the bagpipes, and began playing them competitively. I have had the opportunity to play for churches, families, and special need camps throughout my musical career.

I have two children attending firefly for piano and clarinet lessons. They have many different music teachers for all kinds of instruments. Emily is awesome at greeting us when we come in and working with our schedule and piano Dan is great with my little guy. This a nice gem in the middle of Highland Square.

Our son has been taking Piano Lessons At Firefly for the past six years! He went from a young boy, curious about playing but couldn't read music, to a confident, talented teenager that can play and read most sheet music! He has an amazing teacher and has loved Firefly since day one. It is a very relaxed and non-intimidating atmosphere with a very friendly, patient staff.

We are beyond pleased with our son's accomplishments and owe it all to Firefly! We have referred friends who now take their kids and we will continue to highly recommend Firefly to anyone that may be interested in taking music lessons.

My kids have enjoyed their time at Firefly, and the teachers are very good at reaching them. Especially Nathan (guitar) has brought my daughter along very well from just starting to developing a love of music. Everyone at the school has been friendly and they give the kids the attention they need to build on their skills from week to week. Further, the recitals they hold from season to season have been effective at teaching my son that playing in front of others isn't just doable, but can be a pleasant experience. If you're interested in giving your kids a foundation in music, check out the schedule and availability at Firefly Music School. Your kids (and you!) will be thankful.

To say that I am extremely pleased with Firefly is an understatement. The tuition is fairly priced and competitive. I adore the front desk staff and the teachers are Amazing!. His teacher Matt has taken my appreciation to another level. When my son started with firefly he was in his second year of band and could barely read music. 2 years later he reads music, is always learning new techniques and loves to play.

I especially like the fact that although he is learning the pieces he needs for school, Matt always challenges him with additional music. Best part? If my son decides he wants to learn something to impress friends and family his instructor makes sure to make time for it. My boy thinks Matt is pretty cool too! Love this school and it's so worth it to build your kids confidence.

My sons had nearly given up on piano when we found Firefly. The staff are knowledgable and meet the needs and interests of the students.
