Have you ever had one of those days when you were singing, acting, dancing, or involved in some athletic activity, and for one brief moment, you leapt to a higher level of understanding than you have ever known before? This is the "Eureka" moment, one that we, as artists, live for, because now a greater oneness with process is no longer wishful thinking. Now our own body has shown us a higher path, and the goal becomes to create a strategy by which this Eureka can be experienced again and again, reflexively, at will.

I have been singing and playing the piano since I was seven. All through middle and high school, I participated in every vocal ensemble available to me and became very involved in musical theatre as well. The experience of being cast as Anna in my high school's production of The King and I set me on the path toward my life's calling and passion.

Sheila's unique language of positive visualization and user friendly metaphors helped me transcend the jargon and develop understanding of essential but mysterious and elusive vocal mechanisms, such as the diaphragm and soft palate. She really instilled a good work ethic in me, which I have applied to the voice, as well as in other musical and non-musical arenas, and everyday life, with much success

Sheila Barish has been one of the most influential people I've had the pleasure of knowing. She dares to do, as a teacher, what most people don't attempt as human beings. Most importantly, she showed me how to believe in myself, to isolate myself from my environment, forget about all facts and opinions, and just focus on my entire being in the moment.
