
A study has found that children who study a musical instrument for at least three years outperform other children even in non-musical skills. The young musicians were found to excel in tests measuring verbal ability and visual pattern completion.

Katherine Kilcullen
Katherine Kilcullen initially began her career in music, and became involved in computing when writing programs was required in order to use them. In 1992, she founded Casco Computer Education Center and spent 15 years teaching computer programming and robotics to children in grades K-12 in the greater Portland area.
