Being student centered as opposed to being teacher centered is the luxury of private instruction. When students come to the private studio, I feel an obligation to understand a students individual learning style and strength, whether it is visual, aural, or physical. I take time to talk with each child to learn their likes and dislikes, and to observe their reactions to certain activities. I adapt musical concepts to each style of learner.



While taking the time to learn each childs method of learning is time consuming, it is of benefit to me and to the student. Each student brings a unique and individual desire to learn. Everyone is entitled to learn in a respectful environment with thoughtful and organized instruction. Each student is responsible to develop discipline through practice and experience public performance of their abilities. I provide musical instruction and guidance in every aspect of musical life including music theory, history, literature, and performance.
