I started taking guitar lessons with Eddie several years ago when he was teaching at a location in Buckhead. He opened up Guitar Decatur and I gladly make the commute from the Westside. He's a great guitarist with a nice relaxed teaching style. His passion for teaching, the guitar and music in general is very evident. If you're looking for a teacher to help you grow as a musician or if you're just looking for a new hobby, this is one of the best places around for any musical endeavor.

This little studio in downtown Decatur has some of THE BEST instructors for musicians that I have encountered. Both my older son (guitar) and my younger son (bass) have gone from beginners to advanced players who are both in a band on the side. They give clear instruction, follow up emails on what to work on between lessons, and guidance about fun and level-appropriate music to work on.
During the pandemic, David Schroeder even was able to work with my bass-player twice a week, teaching him not only rock but also jazz. Just an incredible group of teachers - I cannot recommend them enough!

I've thoroughly enjoyed taking drum lessons at Guitar Decatur. Eric Sanders is a fantastic instructor. As an adult learning, having only picked up the playing the drums since I turned 40, he's been awesome in helping me build on the basics. I really appreciate his enthusiasm, encouragement, teaching style, and he's a wealth of knowledge!

Ben Fraser is an excellent guitar teacher. I am 55 years old, and Ben is my 4th guitar teacher. While I have enjoyed and learned so many things from all of my instructors, let me take a minute to tell you why I love taking lessons from Ben. When we met, I told him I wanted to learn music theory. I also wanted to able to play the guitar all the way up and down the fretboard, from the first fret to the 16th. Ben is teaching me all of these things.
He is not, however, teaching me this through endless drills. Of course we do some drills, but then he shows me how these drills apply to playing music. Oftentimes he picks out a jazz song with a trumpet solo. He has me listen to the trumpet solo on YouTube, write the music, and then work out how to play it on my guitar. Then he will have me play the same solo at several locations on the fretboard.
Yesterday we worked on triads and inverted triads, and then he gave me an intro to a song to see how it works. Ben takes time outside of our lesson to come up with a lesson plan catered to my needs, and then he brings instructional material to my lesson. He is very patient and kind. If you are thinking of taking guitar lessons, I highly recommend Ben.

Music, hmm? So, you listen to music, maybe you grew up singing in school and church choirs as I did, or you've always wanted to play that special song you hear friends or parents listen to on some instrument. If you yearn to broaden your enjoyment of this beautiful art of music, then explore Guitar Decatur and the new Decatur Music Project. I'm sixty-two years old, I started learning guitar from Eddie Minjarez 8 years ago through a gift certificate from my wife.

We had been looking for guitar teacher for our son who plays at an advanced level. Fortunately, we found Guitar Decatur. Myles is a gem; he's patience, clear, and a wonderful teacher, not to mention a REALLY good guitarist as well. Eddie, the owner of Guitar Decatur, listens and has helped us guide our son as he pursue his passion for music. The folks at Guitar Decatur care about their students. You can't go wrong with them.

I found guitar decatur on google last year. I am 42yrs old and always wanted to play guitar and decided to give it a try last summer. I have been taking lessons from Eddie the owner ever since. He is great and super patient. I have a very busy career but this has been a fun outlet. I would recommend guitar decatur for any age.

I have never had lessons anywhere else. The facility is nice inside and I think your experience will really depend on your teacher. My teacher ended up quitting and they did not want me to take a joint lesson with my son anymore (we are both beginners) So I called around. No one else seemed to have a problem with that. On top of that my teacher quit owing me a lesson and told me to show up for class and when I did I was told he was gone and I should call him for a refund.
I never got a refund for that make up class. All of that aside I have learned more with my new teacher in 3 classes than I did in almost a year at guitar decatur. Again I think your mileage may vary and will be dependent on your instructor.

I've been taking guitar lessons at Guitar Decatur for a few months and my experience has been great. It's a great place for all levels of musicians, and the environment is extremely welcoming and comfortable. I'm a beginner but I've already learned a lot more than I expected given that I've only been playing for a short time. I highly recommend this place!

I've been taking lessons at Guitar Decatur and I love it! Not only do they teach guitar & bass guitar, but they also offer voice, violin, piano, & clarinet lessons as well. All of the teachers are extremely friendly and great at what they do. I've learned so much and gotten so much better since starting here. They work w/ all levels, w/ a teaching style that keeps things comfortable & fun. Very affordable and flexible with your schedule. If you've ever so much as thought about taking lessons, do it here. You won't regret it!
