My approach to teaching the guitar varies depending on the individual student, the style of music they are interested in, and what their goals and intentions are. My overall philosophy of teaching is based upon the assumption that people want to learn guitar for a reason. That is, there is something about this wonderful and mysterious art form known as Music that has touched them in some way, and they feel drawn to want to express themselves through this art form.They want to have a direct and intimate experience with it; more intimate than they could get from just listening. I try to do everything in my power to help nurture this natural urge to experience music, and try never to do anything that would dampen it. I may not always succeed, but that is my aim. And, I think (at least I hope!) I'm getting better with experience.

His unfailing patience, sense of fun, directness, calm demeanor and high standards guides the lesson while also allowing for student participation in reaching musical goals.

My music lessons have given me the chance to get away from the text books and into something that truly makes me happy. It is a place were i can express myself not through empty words but through heartfelt notes. Gregg Jordan is what music education should be about. After flailing for a couple years trying to learn the guitar elsewhere, I remembered (duh) that my kids had taken lessons from Gregg long ago. After watching / listening to me play one piece (badly), he gently and clearly pointed out all the things I was struggling with and explained the approach to solving the problems.
Music (pun intended) to my ears! I had been ready to quit, assuming that I was just a hopeless student. I have been steadily improving since starting with Gregg and am so happy I found him. He is not only a wonderful performer, but a skilled and patient music EDUCATOR which is making all the difference to me.

Gregg has been a great fit for my son, who started with Gregg five years ago at age 8 or 9. He describes Gregg as "awesome." Gregg has an incredibly low-key approach that follows the student's interest. He doesn't talk a lot and yet magically much is conveyed. As my son has become a better musician, I've realized how good a musician Gregg is - he really can go as deep as you will need to go. I'd suggest talking with Gregg about your particular musical interests and challenges, he will honestly tell you if he's the right choice.
