Laura Weiss Private Studio Laura uses a student centered approach to lessons. As opposed to a performance-based studio, each student is held to the goals set in collaboration between student and teacher. While excellence in musicianship is expected, the progress of each student is dependent upon student initiative, parent/teacher practice support, and gentle but firm teacher guidance. Each of us has the potential to find a musical voice within. This studio is a great place to begin your music adventures! Enroll today!

At 57, I'd loved listening to music my whole life, wanted to make music, but was quite certain I couldn't sing. My wife had a sense of how much I would enjoy singing and kept challenging me to try. When I wouldn't take the bait, she gave me singing lessons as my Christmas present. My initial trepidation evaporated within minutes during the first lesson, as Laura explained how to relax, how to have confidence, and how to enjoy singing.

And she quickly showed me that, in fact, I could sing. Not well at the beginning, of course, because I'd never tried. But within weeks Laura had helped me develop a voice I could be proud of, and more importantly a confidence and an eagerness to sing.

Laura makes the technical aspects of singing approachable to the novice or the more experienced alike, and her teaching style blends encouragement, mentoring, patient but insistent musical development, leading by example, and fun. I would encourage anyone who's been wondering whether they can or should sing or play the piano to get off that fence and give it a try. It's a blast!

Learning to play piano in my mid 40s is one of my most challenging undertakings, but Laura really cares about finding a teaching approach that suits her students needs and has helped make this also one of my most positive, personal growth experiences.
