I provide piano lessons customized to students' goals and learning styles. Students are encouraged to explore a variety of musical styles as they develop technique and artistry. Music theory, improvisation and music history are woven into weekly lessons in activities appropriate for students' developmental levels.Small, informal performance opportunities are provided at least once per year. I teach piano lessons at my private studio in north Asheville and at Acton United Methodist Church in west Asheville.

Prior to the first lesson, we will select method books and repertoire based on your goals. You may choose to purchase materials yourself, or I can purchase materials and add the cost to your first month's tuition. A 3-ring binder for practice plans and supplemental materials is recommended. Students need regular access to a practice instrument, either a well-maintained acoustic piano or a full size keyboard with weighted keys.

I am a piano instructor, church organist, pediatric speech-language pathologist and educator. In each of these roles, I have met a variety of wonderful individuals who have taught me the importance of individualizing instruction for every learner. I strive to create a relaxed, supportive and fun environment in which students can explore a wide range of musical styles. I welcome special needs students, young children, adolescents and adults.
