Jake is great to work with and he makes guitar playing easy. Lessons are enjoyable because you pick the music and the agenda, I only wish I had scrapped boring YouTube videos sooner. I highly recommend Jake as an instructor, and by the way, hes a great guy, too!

Feeling I had reached a plateau in what youtube videos and tabs could teach me, I was looking for external guidance to get out of the rut. With Jake's help over the past year I am growing as a guitarist faster than ever. He's demystified songwriting, improvisation, and music theory. I've achieved goals that seemed intangible a year ago. I've played (and sang!) in front of other students.

I've been a student of Jake's before and during the pandemic. He has handled virtual lessons masterfully and meeting online has not slowed me down at all. Jake's personality will make you feel at ease right away. He takes care to build a custom plan for each of his students depending on their personal goals. This year alone we have worked on songwriting, delta blues, blues improvisation, spanish guitar, jazz guitar, and more. Honestly can't recommend him enough!

Jake has an effortless style of teaching and can provide detailed instruction or laid back generalized teaching - he tailors each lesson to you, your wants and needs. Need a song transcribed? Got it. Need in-depth music theory? Yup, that too. How about a vague "Can I play like so-and-so?" lesson, yes!

Jake is gifted; both as a musician and as an educator. He is very approachable, offers gentle guidance that continually develops his students, and has such a great, relaxed attitude that learning from him is a joy! He truly individualizes each lesson for each student. I could not recommend him more. He has something to offer students of all ages and skill levels. I'm in my 50's and just started playing a few years ago. Jake has been the perfect teacher, I feel like I'm learning guitar from an old friend. He's extremely knowledgeable, encouraging and just a great overall teacher and coach. Zero to (guitar) hero - in 6 months. Well, almost. Jake has given me the confidence to pick up an instrument and feel like I have the ability to play, learn, and develop. Jake Farr is an incredible musician and human being. I have been taking guitar lessons with him via FaceTime for the last ~14 months and have gone from "Um, yeah, I think I can play C, G, and A minor." (and then demonstrating them terribly) to making professional recordings accompanying my vocals with my own guitar-ing (Is that a word? It is now!).

I've been playing guitar for 25 years and started working with Jake a couple years ago. He's such a great teacher and I've made great progress with him. Mostly been working on fingerstyle and Travis picking and he's really helped with my technique. He's presented me a good mixture of repertoire and theory. The lessons are always fun and productive.

My 11 y.o. Daughter started a few months ago with no experience and her progress with Jake's instruction has been phenomenal. Highly recommended for all ages and skill levels.

Jake is an excellent teacher and just a cool dude. After several years of "playing" guitar with no training, I started getting frustrated with the lack of progress and decided to take lessons and I'm glad I went with Jake. He's very keen in gearing the lessons to meet the student's particular goals which is exactly what I needed. I've made more progress with these lessons in couple of months than I did in years on my own and more importantly it's been a lot of fun.

I've been taking guitar lessons with Jake for over a year now. Very chill teaching style and always willing to accommodate my crazy schedule. I started lessons knowing only a few basic chords I'd taught myself from YouTube, and now I can play barre chords, songs with fingerpicking, and have learned lead improv patterns. Jake lets me choose the songs I want to learn each week and can write them out or simplify them for me within minutes. Jake has been teaching guitar to my four-year-old for 5 months now. He encourages her creativity (lets her make up her own songs, games, and rewards), while still making sure she is mastering the mechanics of guitar. He keeps her engaged with useful games that help her remember and build upon what she's learned. He seizes spontaneous opportunities for her to practice the songs she's learned in front of an audience.
