Also, I teach a beginner ukulele class at a community education center. This diversity has allowed me to gain insight about the process of working with people, educationally, musically, and developmentally. My approach is one that is peculiar to each of my students. As an auto-didactic learner, I believe that everyone has their own way of learning. Therefore, I use an approach that I feel works well for each of my students, with regard to whether a student is abstract or concrete, for example. With so many possible goals, it is important to be flexible to work effectively with each student's learning style.
I see the process as a wonderful opportunity to gain knowledge and awareness and to personally develop. With my patience, positive energy, personal insight and passion for working with people, I do my best during each meeting to help ensure my students are working effectively towards their goals, while having a fun time doing it. I do this by helping my students create meaning.
Two important things: In the therapeutic world, the therapeutic alliance is the level of connection between therapist and client. Certainly, the connection is important for progress to occur. This concept is true for all forms of a collective work towards a goal. A mutual, wholehearted collaboration is so important for the success of the student.
All the time, I keep this in mind. I strive to ensure that my students are maintaining a good momentum of motivation, so that goals may be reached and learning and development may occur. Also: I promote the idea of Soul. To me, Soul is any sincere display of passion. Sincere because it is something one immensely enjoys doing- therefore, it is done gracefully. I personally believe that whether one is playing the piano, writing an essay, giving a speech, or anything (necessarily peaceful), one should do it with Soul.
Aside from helping my students set goals and work towards reaching them, I strive to feed my student's passion through such means as inspiring and motivating, done genuinely. My hope is that this is undoubtedly clear during the process.Academic Tutoring: Grade school students through college. I help with such subjects as writing, English, elementary reading and math, and psychology.
Music Lessons: For individuals who are beginning to intermediate students, I offer music lessons with piano, guitar, ukulele and singing. Life Coaching: Using my insight as a counseling student and my aforementioned experience with people, I am happy to provide life coaching. I provide, my approach, or anything!
