Burke Music Studio's focus is and always will be on bringing out the creative voice in every child. I believe that every child is unique, creative and capable. I believe that every creative voice deserves to be heard. Many students have to choose between one-on-one private lessons, where they can benefit from an individualized instructional plan and undivided one-on-one attention, or group lessons, where they get to work with and socialize with like-minded students.
Each approach has its unique benefits and drawbacks. At Burke Music Studio, we employ the best of both methods. Students regularly take weekly private lessons largely comprised of one-on-one time with their teacher. They then spend an additional 10 to 15 minutes engaged in guided theory, listening and musicology lessons utilizing today's technology on a lesson that has been specifically planned for them.
Some students also take home activities and assignments that they can complete at home. These one-on-one lessons are interspersed with group lessons that put students with other students close to their own age, ability level and interest level. Group lessons explore topics related to common musical principles and special musical interests. The group lessons provide an opportunity for students to learn and experience music in a supportive, social setting.
