Music in My Garden

I took lessons with Dr. Laura Broughton for about 11 years. Many students don't last past 6 months when they take private music lessons, but Dr. Laura has a very special way of patiently working with students so that they don't feel rushed, anxious, or discouraged. Not only was I taught keyboard skills, but also music history, theory, musicianship, professionalism, and countless other skills.

After getting my bachelor's degree from Yale, I matriculated at NYU to get a masters degree in composition (film scoring emphasis). Dr. Laura's effective teaching laid the groundwork for me to become the professional composer I am today, and I am very grateful.

My son James started taking piano from Dr. Laura a little over a year ago. I've been very impressed with the rapid progress he's made. He really enjoys his lessons. Dr. Laura is a very understanding and patient teacher, and I think that her enthusiasm for music really encourages James to work hard. Dr. Laura Broughton is the most enthusiastic and skilled piano teacher that I have ever met! It is no wonder why both of my children love music and Dr. Laura!
