Melanie believes music is the one thing that touches us all universally. It brings peace to the soul and awakens creativity and passion in all aspects of our lives. Students of music are instilled with the confidence and wisdom essential for all they wish to do in life.

Private vocal instruction to all levels, ages, and genres. I have a studio filled with diverse students: broadway, folk, classical, pop. The cornerstone of my teaching is to not make you sound like myself or someone else, but to make you sound like you at your best. I focus on breathing, body awareness, characterization, and helping you to sing with your healthliest and most optimal voice in a very positive supportive environment.

Dr. Melanie Cain

Holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and a Masters of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A native of Carroll, Iowa, she received her BA in both Music and Art from Luther College in Decorah, IA. Dr. Cain has experience in teaching private voice lessons, piano lessons, and has taught many vocal master classes.

Without being a music professional or student, I didn't know where to go to find a voice teacher, so I started several years ago by putting an ad on the music students' bulletin board in the basement of the Humanities Building. After several upgrades, I finally found Melanie, who has been able to tell me what's wrong when I can't figure out why I'm getting hoarse and can't make the sound I want, and tell me just what to do to make it better.
