Depending on your goals I will tailor my instruction to fit your needs. In addition to using method books, I also supplement my instruction with customized worksheets to ensure my students avoid the common obstacles that can hold them back from progressing. For the advanced and jazz piano students I have created a series of piano arrangements which can be played and/or analyzed depending on the level of the student.I believe that learning to play the piano is based on the integration of sequential skills. Some might be musical or purely pianistic, while others might be technical or theoretical. For these reasons, I include the following content areas for all my elementary piano students.

It’s great to have Mr. Tyrrell as a piano teacher. If you have a question about one of the songs you are learning, or even asking what note it is he’s ALL ears and will answer it without a doubt. You will learn a lot while taking classes here. I know especially because this is much better than from the place I used to take them.

As a professional classical guitarist for 50 years, I was delighted to find Jack Tyrrell at our local music store. He teaches my 8 year old grandson. He is patient but it also seems he puts up with no nonsense. My grandson and I have also had the opportunity to see him play jazz/standards with a bass player. For being such a terrific musician, he has a great deal of humility and an immense gift he is very quiet about. I could not ask for a better or more inspiring piano teacher.
