For example, for the young in Indiana that is the ISTEP test. Later in life, it is important to do well on SAT scores. However, unless considering a professional career in music, piano lessons is one of the few things that students can do for themselves. While the mastery of the instrument may take several years to accomplish, the rewards and enjoyment last a lifetime. In addition, studies have indicated and increase in academic accomplishments along the way. Early instruction can reinforce mathematical skills, and later instruction into how the instrument works creates an awareness of science and art.
